We haven’t had a break-in, fortunately. We have a newer compost bin that’s thwarted the bear so far. And we bring the hummingbird feeders in at night. Unfortunately, one of our neighbors who had the bear get a bag of chicken feed AND then a bag of dog food, also had no problem with the bear raiding her vegetable garden (Her words, “I don’t mind sharing with the bears.”) Creating a nuisance bear is not doing the bear any favor. It will eventually get euthanized by CPW.
It’s a two-strike policy. The first time they get relocated and an ear tag. Frankly, I think most people are hesitant to report either the bears or their negligent neighbors. I never have.
Truly. Humans are such heathens. Leaving trash around that a hungry bear doesn’t take into consideration that is not even close to good for them – can even hurt them!
Why everyone around here isn’t taking responsibility for their garbage is a mystery to me. My husband had to clean up bear-strewn trash last year that the “owner” never cared to notice or claim.
Yes. During COVID, it was insane the number of masks everywhere. People would take them off when getting off the bus (not far from my house) and either hang them on the fence of a passageway) or just throw them on the ground. Of course they ended up on my lawn.
It certainly gives me heartburn! Well done.

It makes you wonder. I get they’re hungry after hibernating, but wouldn’t you spit this stuff out?

Not at all and in many cases hazardous to their health.

Undoubtedly. Why they swallow this junk just to ease their empty tummy is a mystery.

A good reminder not to leave our trash where it doesn’t belong.

All our services offer bear-resistant containers, but some people still haven’t gotten the message!

Bears can do some damage when they’re hungry. Just ask the people whose houses the bears break into seeking (and finding) food.

I didn’t know that nuisance bears get euthanized.

I would contact Animal Control if a bear broke into my house. Otherwise, no.

It drives me crazy. I am constantly picking up stuff that blows all over my front lawn. People! Stop littering!

I am frankly surprised at stuff – lid and straw to a drink, cigarette package, wrappers of all sorts…

People who value convenience only. Use and toss aside.
